Thanh H. Tran, JD

Thanh’s family settled in the Pacific Northwest in 1975, when Thanh was six years old. In 1991, Thanh graduated from University of Washington with B.A. Degree in Speech Communication – Honors Program. Afterwards, Thanh attended the University of Washington School of Law and was elected as the Student Bar Association President.

By 1994, Thanh was the first Vietnamese-American intern at the Seattle City Attorney’s Office – Criminal Division, and graduated with his Juris Doctor from the University of Washington, as part of the first class to graduate Vietnamese students. Since law school, Thanh worked for several years in the litigation departments for two AV (top) rated law firms in the Seattle area. In 1998, Thanh became the first Vietnamese Deputy Prosecuting Attorney for King County. There, Thanh tried over 75 cases with over 30 felony jury trials.

In 2002, Thanh recognized the need for ethical legal representation of the Vietnamese-American community and opened his own practice in Seattle. In 2003, Thanh opened a second office in Portland. Thanh’s practice includes representing individuals and small businesses in their legal disputes and personal injury claims. Due to his experience as a prosecutor, Thanh also represents individuals charged with crimes such as DUI, Assault and Theft. Thanh’s courtroom and litigation experience has allowed him to successfully represent individuals facing immigration removal (deportation) proceedings or individuals looking to bring family members to the United States.

Away from the office, Thanh loves to spend time with his wife, Samantha, and their three children. Thanh likes to run and continues to play/coach soccer.

Thanh was selected to be on the board for the Oregon Vietnamese Community Association and served for four years. Currently, Thanh serves on the pastoral council for Our Lady of La Vang Catholic Church.
